media law.

Technology does not infringe (Sony Corp. of America v. Universal City Studios, Inc., 464 U.S. 417 (1984). This verdict regarding the well-known lawsuit dealing with the range of copyright in the so-called Betamax-Case is even outside the U.S. valid and true.

Since the Court Decision from 1984 media have radically changed and analogue video tapes like in the Betamax-Case have almost completely disappeared from the digital world. Applicable laws have been nationally and internationally modified since then. However, principles of copyright law and intellectual property law are still the legal fundament for current media phenomena and actual developments.

Applicable law therefore is permanently subject to various challenges which also imply a certain scope of legal creation and arrangements.
